History of the
Christian
Children's
Home of Ohio

The Christian Children's
Home of Ohio began
with vision and faith in
1969 when local Christians
saw a need for a home to serve needy children in a family-style setting. They organized the ministry and purchased a 175-acre farm just north of Wooster, Ohio.

The old farmhouse was used as a foster home until the first cottage was built in 1975 to serve up to ten young people. Additional cottages and programs have been regularly added. The campus is now home to five large cottages, offices, a counseling center, an adventure course, an equestrian therapy program, and a worship and retreat center.

In addition to the residential programs at Wooster, CCHO has Foster Care and Adoptions Services in Wooster and Cleveland, that comprise a network of over 100 foster families. Our counseling center, New Beginnings, has locations in Wooster, Massillon, Canton, Ashland, Sugarcreek, Ontario, and Bellville, Ohio. CCHO is licensed as a Child Caring Agency through the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.

The ministry has grown from ministering to five children in 1969 to now where hundreds of children are served annually. Please contact us at our main office for further information.

The Mental Health Recovery Board of Wayne and Holmes Counties recently conducted an audit of the mental health services provided by Christian Children's Home of Ohio.  The purpose of the audit was to determine the agency's compliance with state Medicaid and medical necessity documentation standards.  This year, Christian Children's Home of Ohio achieved a 100% compliance rating.  Our compliance with these standards is a reflection of the commitment we have to provide quality services to our consumers.
