What is Respite Care?
Respite Care is a preventative, wraparound support service. It allows parents and other full-time caregivers a break from the high demands and stress related to caring for a special needs child, or perhaps care for children during a time of family crisis.
Without a break, any parent can be taxed to the point of losing the ability to provide high quality care. This also places the child at risk. Respite care enhances the quality of care for the child, ensures healthy and stable care for all children, and prevents caregiver exhaustion and burnout.
Who provides care?
Respite Care is provided by trained, liscensed foster families who have been through background checks and home studies. They have been trained in child development, and various medical, behavioral, emotional, emotional, and mental health issues that children may face. Respite providers work with the primary family to ensure consistancy, support, love and care to children.
