Home-based treatment serves to stabilize and treat families before it becomes necessary to remove children from their home, and to reunify families when possible. Abuse and neglect prevention and breaking the cycle of abuse one family at a time are key goals achieved through competent treatment teams working closely with families, children, and their communities. Using a systemic home-based model, the treatment team assesses the family's situation and addresses barriers to safety; fulfillment of basic needs; supervision; effective parenting; child enrichment; and community wraparound needs.
