Our 2024 Heart for the Home Benefit & Auction was a record-breaking success raising over $35,000! Over 280 people attended in support of Christian Children’s Home of Ohio and its family of ministries on Saturday, March 16 at Greystone Event Center in Wooster, OH. The evening featured a delicious dinner and empowering stories of life change from each of our family of ministries. RiverTree Christian Church was the recipient of the Heart for the Home award.
RiverTree Christian Church
From the signing of CCHO’s Articles of Incorporation in 1969 to the RiverTree GoCo Connect 2 Kids event on our main campus just a couple Saturday’s ago, RiverTree Christian Church (RCC) has been intimately involved with Christian Children’s Home of Ohio (CCHO), a relationship spanning more than 5 decades. RCC members are or have been board members, foster and adoptive parents, staff members, donors, and volunteers. As a church, RCC has hosted our first satellite Encompass Christian Counseling office since the early 2000’s.
RCC also collaborated with CCHO’s Foster Care and Adoption program, now known as Encourage Foster Care, to win a foster care/adoption award from the state in 2000. RCC graciously hosted CCHO’s staff Christmas luncheon for years, bringing scrumptious food and bright smiles every Christmas. RCC small groups have adopted residential cottages for Christmas, brightening the lives of our residents at a special time of the year.
Financially, RCC has been a monthly supporter of CCHO’s ministry since its inception. Beyond the monthly support, CCHO has been the blessed recipient of RCC’s Christmas Eve offerings and extremely generous gifts of RCC members. RCC, under the direction of Greg Nettle, Gary Dolan, Kathy Specht, and Jess Adkins, became a church that loves on people–children and adults–who many would consider the least of these, following the example of Jesus! We are so grateful for RiverTree Christian Church and are excited to honor them with our 2024 Heart for the Home Award.
