Dahlia experienced safety and support from her first day on campus

Dahlia grew up in an extremely unstable home. Her parents had no income and were addicted to drugs. Their house was foreclosed due to no functioning utilities, and they lived in a car for more than half a year.

Dahlia’s mom was incarcerated and her father was not stable enough to care for her. She was removed from his custody and placed in the foster care system.

Because you wanted more for kids who have been hurt, Dahlia experienced safety and support from her first day on campus. She now knows that on her best days and worst moments, she is worthy of care. She has learned how to speak truth to herself and others.

Your generosity has given Dahlia a fresh start. When she first arrived, Dahlia was extremely emotional. The slightest obstacle or struggle would be too much for her to bear. She would collapse in a fit of tears, fear and anger consuming her.

Dahlia’s life had been chaotic and her “home” was wherever her parents decided to sleep that night. She never had an adult in her life who focused on her needs. She was bullied at school and she had no friends. Dahlia did not believe she was worthy of love.

With your support, Dahlia became more confident and willing to learn. Her frequent emotional breakdowns became far less common. Dahlia even earned the youth of the month award and was so proud of herself!

Thank you for giving Dahlia a safe place to be heard and valued. Because of you, this young girl went to live with a loving foster family. Dahlia already calls them “mom” and “dad” and is teaching them some of the skills she learned at CCHO. What a wonderful gift you have given to Dahlia!
