Frankie knows he is worthy of care

Writer's picture: CCHOCCHO

Frankie has suffered through abuse, neglect and abandonment. He didn’t believe any of his needs mattered. At the young age of 12, he went to drugs to cope with his pain. He didn’t want to live anymore and attempted to end his life multiple times.

Both of Frankie’s parents were incarcerated at a young age. He went to live with a family member who then abused him for years. Frankie never felt wanted, loved or safe.

Because you wanted more for kids who have been hurt, Frankie experienced safety and support from his first day on campus. He now knows that on his best days and worst moments, he is worthy of care. He has learned how to speak truth to himself and others.

Your generosity has given Frankie a fresh start. When he first arrived, Frankie was extremely guarded. Over and over again he pushed staff away. But over and over again they kept loving Frankie and eventually, he believed it was real.

Frankie’s trauma once controlled his life and relationships. He even stole to get money for more drugs. It was the only way he knew how to cope. It was an isolating and hopeless way to live.

With your support, Frankie not only experienced healing for himself but also connected with new residents and has become a leader in his cottage. Frankie was able to process his trauma and learned vulnerability with trusted adults and peers was worth it.

Thank you for giving Frankie a safe place to be heard and valued. Because of you, this young man is soon going to a trusted family member’s home. He now knows he is worthy of love and can be all that God created him to be.

PS: If you’re inspired by Frankies's story and would like to do even more, you can give a child like Frankie a night of safety for just $60. Your gift will allow a boy or girl to finally be safe and feel safe this winter!
