One Heart Stables

Since opening in 1995, One Heart Stables has been utilized by the youth served in the Children’s Residential Center at CCHO. These children have experienced extreme abuse and neglect, and that trauma often makes it difficult for them to connect with others or even deal with the demands of everyday life. Our therapy horses give the CCHO residents a chance to engage in an honest, non-judgmental relationship, and the skills learned in developing a relationship with a horse then can be easily translated to developing relationships with people. With each lesson, we strive for our riders to gain self confidence, improve their mental and physical capabilities, and engage in social relationships with other riders, staff and volunteers.

Benefits of Therapeutic Riding

Therapeutic riding helps to benefit those with special needs or disabilities cognitively, physically, and emotionally. Therapeutic riding can help to increase flexibility, balance, and strength in those with physical disabilities, as well as encourage verbal and non-verbal communication. Grooming, caring for the horse, and riding all offer sensory input, improve fine motor skills, and help to increase a rider’s social skills. Sessions are offered in group or individual settings.

How it works
You must call ahead to place your order and schedule a pick-up time weekdays between 8am and 6pm. Pull up to the composting bays next to the red barn and our staff will load the product into your trunk or truck. You do not have to bring your own container, but we request that you remain in your vehicle.

Compost is available year-round. For more information and to schedule a pick-up, contact John Plegge at 330.621.1671
