Over 260 people attended our 2023 Heart for the Home Benefit & Auction in support of Christian Children’s Home of Ohio and its family of ministries on Saturday, March 18 at Greystone Event Center in Wooster, OH. The evening featured a delicious dinner and empowering stories of life change from each of our family of ministries. We handed out our Heart for the Home award to the SONshine Servants.
SONshine Servants
During a tour of the Christian Children’s Home of Ohio, Fran Wellock, the mission’s leader from Lakeview Christian Church in Akron, felt the Spirit nudging her. Fran saw the needs of the CCHO campus and used her connections to grow a team dedicated to supporting the children and house parents of CCHO. It first started with the recruitment of Linda Badger, but it wasn’t very long before there were many other women volunteering to serve. Starting with a listening ear to God’s call to serve came over 30 years of dedication and countless hours of volunteer work. The eternal impact this group of women have made on the lives of countless children and families is indescribable; from faithfully praying, to making “freezer” meals for the cottages, these ladies have done it all. This honor is long overdue, and we are grateful beyond words for their commitment to the calling of being the SONshine Servants.
The event also included an amazing online auction with more than 100 bundles up for bidding. Bidding kicked off March 8 and concluded the evening of the event. While event attendees had an opportunity to view the items in person, winners did not need to be present to win.
