A new start for Jillian

Updated: Feb 7, 2022

Though she’s the big sister, Jillian never felt safe in her own home. She was removed from her father’s care because of extreme abuse. The fear and trauma were so painful and overwhelming for Jillian that she tried to harm herself many times.

Jillian didn’t believe that her life could get better. Social activities weren’t fun anymore. She was anxious all the time. She felt trapped in her dark thoughts—turning to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain.

Because of your heart for youth from hard places, Jillian experienced safety and connection. She could finally let her guard down and trust those who wanted to help her. Jillian also discovered Christ’s love just for her. She was recently baptized and is so excited about God’s plan for her life.

At her baptism, Jillian shared: “I made it this far with the help of you guys and God watching over me even I didn’t believe it at the time. I’m thriving in my program and in my life and I couldn’t have done any of it without God.”

Jillian once struggled with depression. She worried that she was not enough. She was weary from trauma and all the negative ways she tried to cope.

Your support has helped Jillian start a new life. You can see a difference in her attitude and actions. She’s practicing effective strategies and turning to God with anxious thoughts. She’s modeling hope and grace for her younger siblings.

“I know that I will always have struggles and difficulties. But I also know ‘I can do all things through Christ Who gives me strength.’ He died on the cross for me. For us. For that I am eternally grateful.”

You did all of this for Jillian! Because of your willingness to make a difference, this 15-year-old girl knows her true worth!
