Christian Children’s Home of Ohio (CCHO) celebrates this year’s Social Work Month in March with the theme “The Time is Right for Social Work” to highlight how social workers have enriched our society for more than a century and how their services continue be needed today. Social workers serve with leadership, respect, and compassion to empower others to live their best lives.
Since the first social work class was offered in 1898 at Columbia University, social workers have led the way to create positive change for people in need. Today there are nearly 720,000 social workers in our nation. That number is expected to grow by 12% by the end of the decade, making social work one of the fastest growing professions in the nation, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“God has given each of you a gift. Use it to help each other. This will show God’s loving-favor.” -1 Peter 4:10, NLV
CCHO has more than 30 social workers across our agency who are using their gifts to advocate for others. They support children, adults and families through life’s tough challenges in homes, offices, schools, courtrooms, cottages and equine-therapy spaces. Our dedicated team connects clients with critical tools and supportive services to help them experience their worth in Christ. We truly have the best social workers and we are grateful for their kindness and dedication in caring for people throughout the year.
