Burn bright not out

Updated: Apr 11, 2022

Join us in celebrating Counseling Awareness Month and the counseling professionals across our family of ministries. We are grateful that our colleagues have chosen a career in empowering others. This past year has come with a unique set of challenges and our clinical team has supported clients all along the way.

The American Counseling Association defines counseling as “a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families, and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals.”

Licensed professional counselors are trained to care for individuals and families with a variety of mental health and relationship challenges. They strive to create safety and trust with their clients and to share in their experience and emotions. They develop creative approaches and adjust to meet the ever-changing needs of clients and communities.

Counselors are known to ask a lot of questions. They are looking to help their clients identify and build on their strengths and assist them in making their own decisions. Counselors are also advocates and encouragers, and they connect their clients to additional resources and supports to help them achieve their goals.

Counselors are honored to walk alongside individuals on their journey toward healing. They believe that their clients are worthy of respect and see it as a privilege to be a container for their story. They want to be a safe space for growth and change.

The 2021 Counseling Awareness Month campaign shares that “the future is self-care, advocacy and inclusion.” This year has had numerous difficulties and stressors for both clients and clinicians. The hope is for everyone to find support to burn bright rather than burn out.

Thank you again to our amazing and compassionate counseling team who is helping more children and adults experience their worth in Christ. So appreciative for all that they do each day in reaching for the highest good of others.
